1. What OctoNote processes
Your notes stay on your device unless you enable Cloud Sync. When you use an AI feature, OctoNote processes the selected region text or image, your question, and relevant page context to generate a response. Lecture features may process audio and transcripts when you choose to use them.
2. AI service providers
AI requests are routed through OctoNote services to third-party model providers, currently including Google Gemini. We do not use your note content to train our own models. Provider processing is subject to the provider's service and privacy terms.
3. Cloud Sync and account data
If enabled, note files are encrypted in transit using HTTPS and stored in Cloudflare R2, separated by account. Account information, entitlements, and usage counters are stored with Supabase. Cloud Sync is optional.
4. Retention
Non-content request metadata may be retained for up to 90 days for reliability, quota enforcement, and abuse prevention. Deleting your account removes associated account data and cloud files, subject to minimal records required for fraud prevention, transaction compliance, or legal obligations.
5. Website analytics
This website loads Google Analytics only after you select “Accept analytics.” Analytics is configured without advertising personalization or Google signals. You can reopen Cookie settings from the footer and change your choice.
6. Your choices
You may keep notes local, disable AI data sharing, decline website analytics, disable Cloud Sync, export your notes, or request account deletion from the app.
7. Contact
For privacy questions, email octonote@anotherbug.com and include the Support ID shown in OctoNote Settings when the question concerns an account.
